SØNDERBORG - CULVERT ON CONCRETE SLAB
Sønderborg Municipality have in connection with the construction of the ring road at Nordborg Resort, extended existing culvert for Gildbæk to ensure that the new road crossing meets width requirements, and current traffic safety standards.
The existing culvert (concrete Ø1000) for Gildbæk has been extended by approximately 7 meters to provide sufficient width for new road crossing. Since Gildbæk is located in a soft ground area, the culvert extension must be constructed on a piled concrete slab to prevent differential settlements between the new and existing sections. Excavated soil and pumped water from site works must be disposed at approved facility. The project area lies within a coastal protection zone and designated as both Natura 2000 and §3 protected area, which imposes several restrictions on the execution of the works.
JUN has been responsible for the following tasks:
- Preparation of tender documents for geotechnical drilling
- Preparation of authority applications (§8 application, regulation application, and EIA screening application)
- Consultant tender for the design of the piled slab
- Contractor tender for construction culvert, and slab, earthworks, road markings, traffic management measures, worksite setup, etc., in accordance with the Danish Road Directorate’s tender standards
- Supervision and follow-up during construction
- Closure of applications, including updating and submitting revised drawings to the authorities
- Preparation of drawings for the access permit application to Sønderborg Municipality – overview plan with traffic signage and work zone layouts
- Drawing and model basis for the piled deck design – plan, section, and visualization principles
- As-built updates with delivery of drawings and models
